Any trip, whether for nearby places or distant, requires money and often takes longer than anticipated. But a prediction and more detailed planning can help you avoid unpleasant surprises.
Check out some tips to not exceed the budget during a trip:
- First, set the destination and the number of people who will travel and how long you’ll be traveling. With this information, see if it’s better to hire a tour package or not. Decide in advance if you still prefer to do tours of the package/tour or for your account. Is a good option, because you get more free and enjoy more;
- Find out about your destination, checking if the site offers infrastructure with good restaurants, landmarks, nightlife, etc. All this will help you to list spending, after all, knowing the options you have on site, you already have an idea of how much will spend;
- Now you can create your spreadsheet of expenses for the trip. To do this, use paper or computer. On the worksheet, list all items, such as transportation, lodging, food, leisure, shopping, emergencies and what else you think important. If you have chosen a package tour, some of these items do not need to be related, since the package includes services such as transportation, lodging, among others;
- Check all the expenses considered mandatory, like food, etc. On the transport, if you travel by car, take into account fuel and toll costs. After spending “needed”, related leisure costs, etc. This does not mean that leisure cannot be the priority on your trip. The value that will be designed for each item you choose. The question is only organize spending.
- After placing all the values in each item on your list, add it up and find out how much you will spend on the trip. Decorate or take this worksheet with you and try not to escape much of the budget. But don’t forget: always book a money for emergencies and contingencies.
